PTFE Wide Temperature Range for High-Performance Electrical Insulation

High-performance electrical insulation is the core guarantee for the safe and stable operation of power transmission, electrical equipment and electronic precision components. The operating environment of electrical equipment is complex and changeable, covering ultra-low temperature alpine regions, high-temperature industrial workshops, outdoor variable temperature environments and high-altitude low-pressure environments. The insulation performance of most traditional insulation materials is highly dependent on temperature conditions, with decreased insulation resistance at high temperature, increased dielectric loss at low temperature, and easy insulation breakdown under temperature fluctuation. PTFE, with its excellent wide-temperature insulation performance, can maintain stable and superior dielectric properties in the full temperature range of -200°C to 260°C PTFE SHEET, becoming the preferred high-performance insulation material for high-end electrical and power equipment.

In low-temperature electrical working environments, PTFE solves the insulation failure problem of traditional materials. In alpine power transmission, low-temperature electronic equipment and high-altitude power facilities, the ultra-low temperature environment will cause traditional plastic and rubber insulation materials to harden and shrink, resulting in insulation layer cracking, reduced insulation resistance and increased leakage current. PTFE insulation materials have excellent low-temperature stability, no brittle deformation at ultra-low temperature, stable volume resistivity and dielectric strength, and can effectively isolate current and high-voltage electric fields. It ensures that power cables, high-voltage switches and precision electronic components maintain reliable insulation performance in low-temperature extreme environments, avoiding electrical faults such as electric leakage and short circuit.

High-temperature operation is the main working condition of industrial power equipment and electrical components. Long-term high-temperature heat generation of transformers, power distribution cabinets and high-voltage transmission equipment will cause aging and failure of ordinary insulation materials, resulting in decreased insulation performance and equipment safety hazards. PTFE has ultra-high temperature resistance and excellent high-temperature insulation stability. It does not soften, deform or age at 260°C continuous high temperature, and its dielectric strength and arc resistance remain at a high level. PTFE TUBE insulation sleeves are widely used for high-temperature wire and cable insulation protection, which can effectively resist high-temperature thermal erosion and electric field impact, maintain stable insulation performance of high-temperature electrical equipment, and improve the overload operation capacity of power equipment.

For electrical equipment operating in variable temperature cycling environments, PTFE’s wide-temperature insulation advantage is irreplaceable. Outdoor power equipment, new energy power generation equipment and mobile electrical devices need to bear seasonal temperature differences and day-night temperature alternations. Traditional insulation materials are prone to performance fatigue after repeated temperature changes, resulting in gradual attenuation of insulation performance. PTFE has stable molecular structure and dielectric properties, no dielectric loss fluctuation and insulation performance attenuation under long-term cold and hot cycles, and can always maintain uniform electric field distribution and excellent high-voltage isolation ability.

In addition, PTFE’s wide-temperature insulation performance is matched with its excellent arc resistance and low dielectric loss. In high-frequency and high-voltage electrical environments, it will not generate excessive heat accumulation due to dielectric loss, avoiding insulation thermal aging. It also has excellent moisture resistance and weather resistance, which can resist the coupling interference of temperature change and humid environment, and maintain stable insulation performance in all-weather working conditions. With the rapid development of ultra-high voltage power transmission, new energy electrical equipment and precision electronic technology, PTFE wide-temperature high-performance insulation materials have become an important basic material to ensure the safe and efficient operation of modern power systems.
