Industrial chemical working environments are often accompanied by extreme temperature changes and complex corrosive media. Most anti-corrosion polymer materials have obvious temperature limitations in their chemical resistance performance. At low temperature, the material is easy to harden and lose anti-corrosion sealing performance; at high temperature, the molecular activity of corrosive media increases, which accelerates material corrosion and penetration, leading to rapid failure of anti-corrosion components. Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is known as the most chemically stable polymer material in industry. Its unique fluorine-coated molecular structure endows it with excellent chemical inertness, and this superior anti-corrosion performance can be stably maintained in the ultra-wide temperature range of -200°C to 260°C PTFE SHEET, solving the industry problem that traditional anti-corrosion materials are ineffective in extreme temperature and corrosive coupling environments.
In low-temperature chemical working conditions, PTFE maintains absolute chemical stability. In cryogenic chemical reaction, low-temperature medium storage and low-pressure chemical transmission scenarios, corrosive media such as strong acid, strong alkali and organic solvents still have certain chemical activity. Ordinary anti-corrosion plastics and rubber materials will become brittle at low temperature, with surface cracks and reduced anti-corrosion barrier performance, resulting in medium penetration and component corrosion damage. PTFE materials will not produce structural defects or performance changes at ultra-low temperature, and their dense molecular structure can completely isolate the contact and erosion of various corrosive media. It can stably protect low-temperature chemical equipment pipelines and reaction vessels from corrosion damage for a long time.
High-temperature chemical environment is the biggest test for the chemical resistance of polymer materials. High temperature will accelerate the molecular diffusion and penetration rate of corrosive media, and most organic materials will undergo chemical decomposition and corrosion failure in high-temperature corrosive environments. However, PTFE has ultra-high chemical bond energy and completely inert chemical properties. In the continuous high-temperature environment below 260°C, it does not react with any strong acid, strong alkali, oxidant, organic solvent and industrial corrosive gas. PTFE TUBE used for high-temperature chemical pipeline lining and anti-corrosion protection can effectively resist the erosion of high-temperature corrosive media, avoid pipeline corrosion, leakage and equipment aging failure, and greatly improve the safety and stability of high-temperature chemical production.
In variable temperature chemical environments with alternating cold and hot cycles, the comprehensive anti-corrosion advantage of PTFE is more prominent. Many chemical production equipment needs to switch between low-temperature reaction and high-temperature distillation, and bear frequent temperature fluctuations. Traditional anti-corrosion materials are prone to thermal expansion and contraction deformation under temperature cycles, resulting in gaps between materials and equipment, and corrosive media will penetrate and corrode the substrate. PTFE has stable dimensional and structural performance under wide temperature fluctuations, no gap deformation after temperature changes, and can always maintain a complete anti-corrosion barrier layer, realizing long-term zero-corrosion protection of chemical equipment.
Different from other modified anti-corrosion materials whose anti-corrosion performance will attenuate with temperature changes, PTFE’s chemical resistance is inherent and will not fail due to temperature fluctuation, medium temperature rise or fall. It can adapt to all complex chemical working conditions such as normal temperature corrosion, low-temperature medium storage, high-temperature chemical reaction and variable temperature cycle production. At present, PTFE wide-temperature anti-corrosion materials have become the core anti-corrosion solution in petrochemical, fine chemical, pharmaceutical chemical and environmental protection wastewater treatment industries, providing reliable material support for the long-term stable operation of chemical equipment.
