AC and DC power transmission systems are the backbone of modern energy transmission, undertaking the task of long-distance and large-capacity power transmission. The insulation performance of transmission equipment directly affects the transmission efficiency, operation safety and service life of the power grid. AC transmission equipment faces alternating electric field fatigue and frequent partial discharge interference, while DC transmission equipment is prone to space charge accumulation, electric field distortion and long-term static electric field erosion. Traditional single insulation materials are difficult to adapt to the dual working characteristics of AC and DC transmission systems. PTFE-based high voltage insulation materials, with their excellent comprehensive electrical properties, can perfectly adapt to AC and DC transmission working conditions and have become the core insulation material for high-voltage transmission equipment PTFE SHEET.

In AC transmission equipment operation, the alternating electric field will cause continuous polarization and relaxation of insulation materials, and long-term alternating electrical stress will easily lead to material fatigue and insulation performance attenuation. PTFE materials have extremely low dielectric loss, and the dielectric loss tangent is kept at an ultra-low level in AC high-frequency and high-voltage working conditions, which will not generate excessive heat due to electric field polarization, effectively avoiding insulation aging and failure caused by heat accumulation. Its stable dielectric constant will not fluctuate with the change of AC frequency and voltage, ensuring the stability of the electric field distribution of AC transmission equipment and avoiding partial discharge and insulation breakdown caused by electric field distortion.

For DC transmission equipment, space charge accumulation is the key factor leading to insulation failure. Under long-term DC static electric field, traditional insulation materials are easy to accumulate space charges inside, resulting in local electric field concentration, which eventually leads to insulation breakdown. PTFE-based high voltage insulation materials have excellent space charge suppression ability. The stable fluorocarbon molecular structure can effectively inhibit charge injection and accumulation, keep the internal electric field distribution uniform, and greatly improve the long-term operation reliability of DC transmission equipment. At the same time, PTFE has ultra-high volume resistivity, which can effectively block DC leakage current and reduce power transmission loss, improving the energy transmission efficiency of DC power grids.

PTFE-based high voltage insulation products cover a full range of supporting products required for AC and DC transmission equipment, including PTFE insulation tubes, sheets, rods and special-shaped gaskets. PTFE TUBE is widely used for insulation protection of transmission line connectors and through-wall parts, effectively isolating high-voltage electric fields and preventing flashover discharge. PTFE molded and skived sheets are used for insulation isolation of converter transformers, power capacitors and high-voltage switchgears in AC and DC transmission systems, with strong electric field impact resistance and arc ablation resistance. Through polymer modification and surface optimization technology, the customized PTFE insulation materials further improve the adaptability of AC-DC dual-purpose working conditions, and solve the problem of poor material compatibility of traditional AC and DC special insulation materials.

In terms of environmental adaptability, PTFE-based high voltage insulation can adapt to all-weather outdoor transmission operation conditions. It has excellent ultraviolet resistance, aging resistance and weather resistance, and will not deteriorate after long-term outdoor exposure. It can resist the interference of extreme weather such as high temperature, low temperature, rain and snow, ensuring the stable operation of AC and DC transmission equipment throughout the year. A large number of engineering applications show that AC and DC transmission equipment using PTFE-based insulation materials has lower failure rate, longer service life and higher power transmission efficiency than traditional insulation schemes.

With the rapid development of ultra-high voltage AC and DC transmission technology and the construction of new power systems, the requirements for insulation performance of transmission equipment are constantly improved. PTFE-based high voltage insulation materials, with their dual advantages of AC and DC working condition adaptation, high dielectric strength and long-term stability, will continue to lead the development of power transmission insulation technology and provide solid material support for the safe, efficient and stable operation of modern power transmission networks.
