Dimensional stability is a key performance indicator of high-precision PTFE components, directly determining the assembly accuracy and long-term service reliability of industrial equipment. After conventional sintering and cooling, PTFE materials will inevitably retain tiny residual internal stress due to temperature gradient difference, uneven molecular recrystallization, and molding pressure superposition. This latent residual stress will be slowly released during subsequent processing, assembly, and long-term service, causing slow shrinkage, warpage, and distortion of PTFE parts, resulting in dimensional tolerance exceeding the standard and equipment matching failure. Post-sintering annealing treatment is the most effective process means to eliminate residual stress and improve PTFE dimensional stability PTFE SHEET.
Post-sintering annealing is a low-temperature constant-temperature heat treatment process carried out after PTFE sintering and natural cooling. Different from high-temperature sintering that changes molecular structure and crystallinity, annealing treatment adopts a moderate temperature interval to activate the micro-molecular movement of PTFE materials without changing the existing dense microstructure and stable crystal state. Through long-term constant temperature heat preservation and graded slow cooling, the residual internal stress generated in the processes of pressing, sintering, and cooling is fully and uniformly released, realizing structural stress balance of PTFE materials.
The most core effect of post-sintering annealing is to significantly improve the long-term dimensional stability of PTFE products. Unannealed PTFE parts have continuous stress release in the natural environment, with cumulative dimensional deviation increasing with service time, which is extremely unfavorable for precision sealing, insulating, and matching components. After standardized annealing treatment, the internal stress of PTFE materials is completely eliminated, the molecular structure tends to be stable, and the dimensional change rate in long-term service is controlled within an ultra-low range. The product will not produce slow deformation due to temperature change and time accumulation, maintaining stable assembly accuracy PTFE TUBE.
In addition to optimizing dimensional stability, post-sintering annealing also improves the comprehensive structural performance of PTFE components. Annealing treatment can repair tiny micro-defects such as micro-cracks and local loose structures generated during sintering and cooling, further improving the compactness and uniformity of the microstructure. The balanced internal structure makes the mechanical properties of PTFE materials more stable, with improved fatigue resistance and temperature change resistance, avoiding performance attenuation and structural failure caused by alternating stress and temperature fluctuation.
Different annealing parameter settings are required for PTFE products of different specifications and precision requirements. Large thick-walled parts and high-precision components need longer annealing heat preservation time and slower cooling gradient to ensure full stress release. Conventional standard parts can adopt optimized short-cycle annealing parameters to balance quality and production efficiency. A large number of industrial practices have proved that post-sintering annealing treatment can reduce the dimensional deformation rate of PTFE products by more than 90%, completely solving the long-term dimensional instability problem of sintered PTFE parts. It has become a standardized essential process for high-precision PTFE component manufacturing, providing reliable guarantee for the application of PTFE materials in high-end precision equipment fields.
