Most of the common defects in PTFE compression molding, including internal voids, surface pits, particle agglomeration, delamination, and uneven density, are closely related to the quality of raw materials and preprocessing effects. PTFE virgin powder is affected by production batches, storage environment, and particle agglomeration, often containing trace moisture, fine impurities, large particle clusters, and uneven particle size distribution. Without standardized preprocessing, these raw material defects will be directly inherited into molded products, resulting in reduced product qualification rate and unstable performance. Scientific and standardized material preprocessing technology is the first line of defense to reduce compression molding defects and improve product quality PTFE SHEET.
Powder drying and dehumidification preprocessing is the basic process to eliminate bubble and void defects. PTFE powder is easy to absorb moisture in humid storage environments. The adsorbed moisture will vaporize rapidly during high-temperature sintering, forming internal bubbles and surface pinholes in molded products, which seriously damage structural compactness and surface quality. Professional preprocessing adopts constant-temperature low-temperature drying technology to completely remove residual moisture in the powder, and sealed storage is used after drying to avoid secondary moisture absorption. This process can effectively eliminate molding void defects caused by moisture volatilization and improve the internal compactness of PTFE products.
Powder crushing and sieving preprocessing solves particle agglomeration and uneven particle size defects. Long-term stored PTFE powder is prone to agglomeration to form large hard particles, which cannot be uniformly compressed and fused during molding, resulting in local particle accumulation, poor fusion, and structural unevenness. Multi-stage crushing and high-precision sieving preprocessing are adopted to break up agglomerated particles, screen out oversized impurities and abnormal particles, and ensure uniform particle size distribution of molding powder. Uniform particle size enables consistent compression density and synchronous sintering fusion of materials, effectively avoiding local loose structure and strength difference defects PTFE TUBE.
Powder impurity removal and purification preprocessing improves product surface quality and insulation performance. Raw PTFE powder may contain trace metal impurities, dust, and residual monomer impurities, which will cause surface scratches, insulation breakdown points, and reduced corrosion resistance of molded products. Advanced airflow purification and magnetic impurity removal technology are used in preprocessing to thoroughly remove microscopic impurities in the powder, ensuring high purity of molding materials. High-purity preprocessed powder can produce PTFE products with smooth surface, no impurities, and stable electrical and chemical resistance performance.
Static aging and uniform mixing preprocessing further optimize powder molding performance. After drying, sieving, and purification, the PTFE powder is subjected to static aging treatment to stabilize powder fluidity and eliminate internal static electricity, making the powder fill the die cavity more uniformly during compression. For modified PTFE composite materials filled with glass fiber, carbon fiber, and inorganic fillers, precise proportional mixing and uniform dispersion preprocessing are required to avoid filler agglomeration and component segregation, ensuring uniform performance of composite molded products.
A complete set of material preprocessing processes can eliminate more than 90% of raw material-induced molding defects, greatly improving the batch qualification rate of PTFE compression molding products. Standardized preprocessing not only reduces production scrap rate and cost loss, but also stabilizes product structural uniformity and comprehensive performance, laying a solid raw material foundation for high-quality and high-precision PTFE compression molding production.
