Friction and Wear Resistance of PTFE Coated Fabric in Bearing Surfaces

Jul 23,2026

By:Amptfe

Mechanical bearing surfaces, sliding friction pairs, linear guide friction parts, and industrial rotating connection structures are in long-term cyclic friction and load-bearing working states, which puts forward high requirements for the friction reduction and wear resistance of surface materials. Traditional metal friction surfaces are prone to dry friction wear, high noise, and easy jamming, while ordinary fabric friction accessories have poor wear resistance and short service life, requiring frequent replacement and affecting equipment operation efficiency. PTFE coated fabric, with its ultra-low friction coefficient and excellent anti-wear performance, is widely used in mechanical bearing friction surface protection and friction pair optimization PTFE SHEET.

PTFE material has the lowest friction coefficient among all solid engineering materials, with a static friction coefficient as low as 0.04, realizing almost zero-resistance sliding friction. When applied to mechanical bearing surfaces, PTFE coated fabric can effectively reduce the friction resistance between moving parts, reduce equipment operation friction heat and energy consumption, and avoid mechanical jamming and abrasion damage caused by dry friction. The uniform and smooth PTFE coating provides a stable friction sliding interface, ensuring the smooth operation of mechanical moving parts and improving equipment operation precision.

In terms of wear resistance, the composite structure of high-strength woven substrate and high-density sintered PTFE coating greatly improves the friction durability of the fabric. The woven base material has strong tensile and tear resistance, which can bear mechanical load and friction impact without structural damage. The tightly bonded PTFE coating has strong wear resistance and anti-scratch ability, will not be worn through or peeled off after long-term cyclic friction, and maintains stable friction reduction performance. Compared with ordinary wear-resistant fabrics, PTFE coated fabric has a service life several times longer in continuous friction working conditions.

Relying on the mature performance advantages of PTFE TUBE and PTFE series friction-reducing materials, PTFE coated fabric is widely used in various mechanical bearing friction scenarios, including mechanical sliding bearing gaskets, guide rail anti-wear liners, rotating equipment friction isolation layers, conveyor mechanical anti-friction pads, and precision instrument friction pair protection. It can work stably in dry friction, low-lubrication, and high-load friction environments, solving the problems of easy wear, high noise, and short service life of traditional friction materials.

Furthermore, PTFE coated fabric has excellent high-temperature resistance and chemical stability, maintaining stable friction and wear resistance in high-temperature friction environments and corrosive industrial environments. It does not produce friction debris and abrasive dust during operation, ensuring the cleanliness of mechanical operating environments. With the development of high-precision and low-energy-consumption mechanical equipment, PTFE coated fabric has become an ideal anti-friction and wear-resistant material for mechanical bearing surfaces, effectively reducing equipment maintenance costs and improving the stability and service life of mechanical operation.
