Aerospace-Grade PTFE for Wire and Cable Insulation

Aug 20,2026

By:Amptfe

Aerospace wire and cable systems are the nerve network of aerospace equipment, undertaking power transmission, signal transmission and control command transmission functions. Aerospace wire and cable insulation materials need to withstand extreme temperature changes, high-altitude low-pressure discharge, mechanical friction vibration, cosmic radiation and chemical medium erosion, and maintain stable insulation performance and signal transmission accuracy. Traditional cable insulation materials such as PVC and ordinary polyethylene have poor temperature resistance, radiation resistance and anti-aging performance, which are easy to fail in aerospace environment. Aerospace-grade PTFE, with superior dielectric properties and extreme environmental adaptability, has become the core insulation material for aerospace wires and cables PTFE SHEET.

Aerospace-grade PTFE has ultra-stable dielectric performance, which is the key to ensure safe power transmission and accurate signal transmission. The material has low and stable dielectric constant and ultra-low dielectric loss, which will not produce signal distortion and power loss in high-frequency signal transmission and high-voltage power transmission scenarios. In aerospace complex electromagnetic environment, PTFE insulation can effectively isolate electromagnetic interference, ensure the stability and accuracy of aerospace control signal transmission, and avoid equipment control failure caused by signal distortion. Its high dielectric strength can withstand high-voltage impact and partial discharge in high-altitude low-pressure environment, preventing cable breakdown and short-circuit faults.

Extreme environmental resistance ensures the long-term operational reliability of aerospace cables. Aerospace-grade PTFE maintains stable insulation performance in the range of -200°C to 260°C, without insulation failure caused by low-temperature brittleness and high-temperature aging. It has excellent cosmic radiation resistance and ultraviolet resistance, which can resist long-term space ray irradiation and avoid insulation material aging and performance attenuation. At the same time, the material has excellent wear resistance and vibration fatigue resistance, which can adapt to long-term mechanical friction and vibration of aircraft flight, preventing insulation layer damage and electric leakage faults PTFE TUBE.

In addition, aerospace-grade PTFE cable insulation has low-outgassing and high-purity characteristics, which meets the vacuum environment requirements of spacecraft and satellites. It will not produce volatile pollutants in space vacuum environment, protecting precision electronic instruments and optical equipment from pollution. The material has excellent flame retardancy and self-extinguishing performance, which can quickly extinguish open fire in case of circuit short circuit and spark, avoiding large-scale fire accidents of aerospace equipment and improving the safety level of aerospace electrical systems.

At present, aerospace-grade PTFE insulated wires and cables are widely used in aircraft avionics systems, spacecraft power distribution systems, satellite signal transmission systems and space station electrical equipment. It provides safe and stable insulation protection for aerospace electrical and electronic systems, effectively reduces cable failure rate, and improves the overall reliability and safety of aerospace equipment electrical systems.
