PTFE film performance is highly dependent on skiving process parameters, and subtle changes in parameter settings will directly affect the thickness uniformity, surface quality, mechanical properties, and structural stability of finished films. As ultra-thin precision polymer materials, PTFE films have strict performance standards in tensile strength, flatness, density consistency, and dimensional stability. Mastering the correlation mechanism between skiving parameters and PTFE film properties is the key to producing high-performance PTFE thin-film products. Core skiving parameters mainly include blade angle, spindle rotating speed, line speed, peeling thickness, and processing temperature, each of which plays an irreplaceable role in determining the final performance of PTFE films PTFE SHEET.
Blade installation angle is the primary parameter affecting PTFE film forming quality and mechanical properties. Excessively large blade angle will cause excessive material extrusion during peeling, resulting in film stretching deformation, reduced thickness uniformity, and decreased compactness. Excessively small angle will lead to unsmooth peeling, material tearing, and edge burr defects, seriously affecting the flatness of the film surface. The optimal micro-inclination angle can realize zero-extrusion and zero-tearing peeling, ensuring that the PTFE film maintains uniform molecular density and stable tensile strength after forming. For ultra-thin films below 0.05mm, the blade angle needs to be precisely adjusted within a narrower range to avoid ultra-thin film fracture and deformation.
Spindle rotating speed and skiving line speed jointly determine the dynamic stability of PTFE film processing. High-speed and unstable rotation will produce micro-vibration, resulting in periodic thickness fluctuation and surface ripple defects of the film. Too low line speed will increase the contact friction time between the blade and the material, causing local heat accumulation and micro-thermal deformation of the film, affecting dimensional stability. Reasonable matching of rotating speed and line speed can maintain stable low-stress peeling state, ensuring consistent thickness tolerance and flatness of the whole film. Different line speed parameters are required for different PTFE raw blanks; high-density blanks and PTFE TUBE blanks need adaptive speed adjustment to ensure stable film performance.
Peeling thickness parameter directly affects the structural compactness and mechanical toughness of PTFE films. Ultra-thin layered peeling can obtain films with uniform molecular arrangement and excellent flexibility, suitable for flexible sealing and flexible insulation scenarios. Excessively thick single peeling will lead to uneven internal stress of the film, resulting in poor flatness and easy warping deformation in later use. Precision thickness grading skiving can realize layered stress release, significantly improving the fatigue resistance and compression resilience of PTFE films, making the films more adaptable to cyclic stress working environments.
Processing temperature is a key hidden parameter affecting PTFE film performance. Although skiving is cold processing, long-term continuous peeling will produce tiny friction heat, causing subtle thermal expansion of PTFE materials. High-temperature accumulation will lead to film shrinkage deformation after cooling, affecting dimensional stability. Constant-temperature skiving environment and real-time heat dissipation control can eliminate thermal parameter interference, ensuring that the physical properties of PTFE films are not affected by processing heat. Scientific parameter matching and optimization can maximize the excellent performance of PTFE materials, producing high-strength, high-flatness, and high-stability thin-film products, which are widely used in precision electronics, new energy, and high-end sealing fields.
