PTFE USP Class VI Medical Grade is the highest-level medical polytetrafluoroethylene material grade, specially developed for high-standard clinical treatment, invasive surgery, and long-term implantation medical scenarios. Different from ordinary food-grade PTFE and general medical-grade PTFE, USP Class VI medical-grade PTFE takes biological safety as the absolute core standard, and has ultra-high purity, zero biological toxicity, excellent tissue compatibility, and long-term in-vivo stability. It is the only PTFE grade recognized by USP official standards for long-term human implantation and high-risk medical contact PTFE SHEET.
The grade classification of PTFE medical materials is strictly divided according to USP biological safety standards. Ordinary medical-grade PTFE only meets basic short-term contact safety requirements and cannot adapt to long-term implantation and blood contact scenarios. In contrast, USP Class VI medical-grade PTFE has passed the most stringent full biological safety certification, covering cytotoxicity, irritation, systemic toxicity, and hemolysis indicators. All performance indicators are far higher than industry general medical material standards, and it is the highest safety grade in PTFE medical material classification.
In terms of production standards, PTFE USP Class VI medical grade adopts exclusive ultra-pure raw material formula and dust-free purification production system. The raw materials are all imported high-purity medical-grade PTFE resin without any industrial additives, fillers, pigments, and processing aids. The entire polymerization, molding, sintering, and post-processing processes are completed in a Class 100 ultra-clean workshop to avoid any form of microbial pollution and particulate impurity residue. Finished products such as medical-grade PTFE TUBE and sheets have extremely high surface cleanliness and molecular uniformity.
Performance advantages of USP Class VI medical-grade PTFE cover biological safety, physical stability, and chemical inertness. Biologically, it has zero cytotoxicity, zero irritation, and ultra-low hemolysis rate, which can safely contact human cells, tissues, and blood for a long time. Physically, it maintains stable mechanical properties and dimensional stability in the temperature range of -200°C to 260°C, and can withstand repeated high-temperature sterilization and radiation disinfection without aging and deformation. Chemically, it is completely inert to all medical reagents, body fluids, and disinfection media, with no chemical reaction and substance precipitation.
The application scope of PTFE USP Class VI medical grade is highly targeted, mainly used in high-end medical fields with zero safety tolerance requirements, including cardiovascular intervention devices, neurological medical implants, orthopedic implant accessories, minimally invasive surgical instruments, and long-term indwelling medical catheters. These scenarios require materials to maintain stable safety for months or even years in the human body, which ordinary medical-grade materials cannot meet.
