PTFE Compression Sealing for Prismatic and Pouch Battery Cells

Prismatic lithium batteries and pouch flexible batteries are the two most mainstream cell types in new energy vehicle power batteries and energy storage battery packs. Prismatic cells have rigid shell structures, while pouch cells have flexible film packaging structures. The two types of cells have different structural deformation characteristics and assembly sealing requirements, which put forward personalized requirements for battery sealing materials and sealing structures. Traditional unified rubber sealing materials are difficult to adapt to the structural differences of prismatic and pouch cells, resulting in poor sealing fit and low reliability. In terms of working condition adaptability, PTFE compression sealing has excellent electrolyte corrosion resistance and thermal cycle stability suitable for cell operation. It can resist the erosion of cell internal electrolyte and volatile gas, avoid sealing swelling and failure, and maintain stable compression sealing performance in long-term charge and discharge cycles. The wide-temperature compression performance ensures that the sealing elasticity will not attenuate in low-temperature and high-temperature environments, adapting to the full-temperature operation of prismatic and pouch cells.
