Performance Evaluation of PTFE Transformer Insulation Materials

Performance evaluation of transformer insulation materials is an important basis for judging equipment operational reliability, formulating maintenance cycles, and optimizing material selection schemes. Traditional transformer insulation evaluation systems mainly focus on the basic indicators of paper and resin materials, while the comprehensive performance advantages of new PTFE insulation materials need to be systematically verified and evaluated through professional electrical testing, environmental aging testing, and engineering application verification. From the dimensions of dielectric performance, thermal stability, mechanical durability, environmental adaptability, and long-term operational reliability, the performance advantages of PTFE transformer insulation materials are far more prominent than traditional insulation materials, making them an ideal alternative material for high-end transformer insulation upgrading PTFE SHEET.

In terms of core electrical insulation performance evaluation, PTFE transformer insulation materials show excellent leading indicators. Professional dielectric strength tests show that the effective breakdown voltage of high-purity PTFE insulation reaches 35–60kV/mm, which is more than twice that of traditional kraft paper insulation. Its volume resistivity is as high as 1×10¹⁶Ω·cm, which can effectively block leakage current and avoid insulation conduction failure. In terms of dielectric loss evaluation, the dielectric loss tangent of PTFE is lower than 0.0002, which is far lower than the national standard for transformer insulation materials, ensuring low heat generation and high-efficiency operation of transformers under long-term high-voltage alternating electric fields. After 1000 hours of continuous voltage impact testing, the dielectric performance retention rate of PTFE materials remains above 98%, showing excellent electrical fatigue resistance.

Thermal stability evaluation is a key indicator to measure the service life of transformer insulation. Through high-temperature constant-temperature aging tests and temperature cycle impact tests, PTFE insulation materials can maintain stable structural and electrical performance in the temperature range of -200°C to 260°C. After 10,000 hours of high-temperature aging at 180°C, no thermal decomposition, carbonization, or performance attenuation occurs, while traditional resin insulation materials have obvious aging failure and insulation strength decline under the same test conditions. The ultra-low thermal expansion coefficient of PTFE also ensures that the insulation structure will not deform or loosen during temperature cycling, maintaining the long-term structural stability of the transformer insulation system PTFE TUBE.

Mechanical performance and durability evaluation verify the operational stability of PTFE insulation in dynamic working environments. Transformers will generate mechanical vibration and electromagnetic impact during operation, which requires insulation materials to have certain toughness and wear resistance. PTFE insulation materials have excellent tensile toughness and anti-fatigue performance, which can resist long-term vibration friction and mechanical impact without cracking, peeling, or damage. The wear resistance test shows that the friction loss rate of PTFE insulation components is less than 0.01% after millions of vibration cycles, which effectively avoids insulation damage caused by long-term equipment operation.

Environmental adaptability and chemical stability evaluation further confirm the comprehensive superiority of PTFE insulation. Humidity aging test, salt spray corrosion test, and transformer oil immersion test prove that PTFE materials have zero moisture absorption, zero corrosion reaction, and zero swelling deformation in complex industrial environments. They can resist the erosion of humid air, chemical media, and oil pollution, and maintain stable insulation performance for a long time. In contrast, traditional insulation materials are prone to moisture absorption, corrosion, and aging failure in harsh environments, with poor environmental adaptability.

Long-term engineering application evaluation shows that transformers using PTFE insulation materials have a 60% lower insulation failure rate and a 70% longer average service life than traditional transformers. The comprehensive performance evaluation results fully prove that PTFE transformer insulation materials have significant advantages in electrical performance, thermal stability, mechanical durability, and environmental adaptability, and are the optimal high-performance insulation materials for modern high-reliability power transformers.
