Medical-Grade PTFE with Low Friction for Guidewires

Medical guidewires are key auxiliary devices for interventional surgery, widely used in cardiovascular intervention, gastrointestinal intervention, urinary intervention, and minimally invasive catheterization surgery. Guidewires need to pass through complex human vascular and tissue channels, requiring materials with ultra-low friction, high flexibility, and excellent biocompatibility to reduce tissue damage and improve the success rate of interventional operations. Medical-grade low-friction PTFE is the optimal coating and core material for medical guidewires, perfectly solving the clinical pain points of large friction and easy tissue damage of traditional guidewires PTFE SHEET.

The ultra-low friction coefficient of medical-grade PTFE is its core advantage for guidewire applications. PTFE has the lowest surface friction coefficient among all medical polymer materials, which can greatly reduce the sliding resistance of guidewires in blood vessels, catheters, and human tissue channels. During interventional surgery, the low-friction PTFE surface enables the guidewire to advance smoothly and accurately, avoiding jamming and position deviation. It effectively reduces mechanical friction and scratch damage to blood vessel walls, mucosal tissues, and duct walls, lowering the incidence of intraoperative bleeding, tissue trauma, and postoperative inflammatory reactions.

Medical-grade PTFE guidewire materials have excellent flexibility and structural stability, adapting to the complex curved channels of the human body. Interventional guidewires need to bend and adjust angles according to human physiological structures, and ordinary coating materials are easy to peel off and deform after bending. PTFE has good bending resistance and toughness, and the coating structure is firm and not easy to fall off. Combined with high-precision PTFE TUBE outer layer protection, the guidewire maintains a smooth and complete surface during repeated bending and sliding, ensuring continuous low-friction performance throughout the operation.

Excellent biocompatibility and anti-thrombotic performance ensure the safety of interventional surgery. Medical-grade PTFE does not cause tissue irritation and immune rejection, and the smooth inert surface can effectively inhibit platelet adhesion and thrombosis formation during vascular intervention. It avoids vascular blockage and embolism complications caused by guidewire contact, improving the safety of cardiovascular interventional surgery. In addition, PTFE materials have excellent sterilization resistance, which can withstand repeated medical sterilization without coating aging and failure, meeting the aseptic requirements of clinical surgery.

At present, low-friction medical-grade PTFE guidewires have become the mainstream products in interventional medical devices, covering cardiac intervention guidewires, vascular intervention guidewires, gastrointestinal guidewires, and urinary tract guidewires. They greatly improve the precision and safety of minimally invasive interventional surgery, reduce surgical trauma and patient postoperative pain, and promote the rapid development of minimally invasive interventional medical technology.
