Load Distribution Characteristics of PTFE Bridge Bearing Pads

Uniform and reasonable load distribution is the core guarantee for the stable force transmission and long-term safe operation of bridge structures. Bridge bearing pads undertake the task of transferring the superstructure dead load, vehicle live load and environmental load to the bridge pier foundation. The load distribution characteristics of bearing pads directly determine the stress state of bridge decks, beam bodies and piers. Traditional bridge bearing pads have problems such as uneven stress, local overload and eccentric load concentration due to unstable material structure and poor flatness, which easily cause structural local damage and bearing premature failure. PTFE bridge bearing pads have excellent uniform load distribution characteristics, which can realize balanced and stable force transmission of bridge structures PTFE SHEET.

The excellent load distribution performance of PTFE bridge bearing pads comes from their uniform and compact internal structure and high surface flatness. High-precision processed PTFE bearing pads have consistent material density and mechanical strength in all parts, no internal defects such as pores and soft spots, and will not produce local excessive deformation and stress concentration under load. The ultra-flat sliding contact surface makes the contact area between the bearing pad and the bridge steel plate uniform, realizing full-surface uniform stress bearing, effectively avoiding the eccentric load and local overload phenomenon common in traditional bearings.

Under dynamic vehicle load and impact load conditions, PTFE bearing pads show excellent flexible load distribution characteristics. The moderate structural toughness and compression resilience of PTFE materials can buffer instantaneous impact load, disperse local concentrated stress, and transmit the load evenly to the whole bearing surface and bridge pier structure. This flexible load buffering and distribution performance effectively reduces the dynamic impact force of vehicle load on the bridge structure, protects the bridge deck and pier concrete structure from impact damage, and improves the overall structural shock resistance and stability. The matched high-precision PTFE TUBE structural accessories further optimize the local load distribution state of special parts of the bearing.

In long-term static load state, PTFE bridge bearing pads have no creep deformation and stress relaxation phenomenon. Traditional rubber and plastic bearings are prone to slow creep under long-term static compression load, resulting in uneven load redistribution and structural inclination. PTFE materials have extremely stable structural dimensional stability, long-term static load will not produce permanent deformation, maintaining uniform load distribution state for a long time, ensuring the long-term balanced force of bridge structures.

Structural mechanics simulation and field load monitoring verify that PTFE bridge bearing pads can reduce the local stress concentration of bridge supports by more than 40%, make the overall load distribution of the bridge structure more uniform and reasonable, effectively avoid structural diseases such as pier cracking, beam end damage and bridge deck uneven settlement caused by uneven load distribution. The superior load distribution characteristics make PTFE bearing pads an ideal force-transmitting component for modern high-precision and high-stability bridge engineering, providing a solid mechanical guarantee for the safe and stable operation of bridge structures.
