High Voltage PTFE Insulation Solutions for Electric Vehicle Powertrain Modules

With the rapid popularization of new energy electric vehicles, the vehicle voltage platform is continuously upgraded from 400V to 800V and even higher ultra-high voltage platforms. The powertrain module, as the core power output component of electric vehicles, includes drive motors, motor controllers, DC converters and high-voltage wiring harnesses, which operate in high-voltage, high-frequency, high-temperature and strong vibration environments for a long time. Traditional vehicle insulation materials are difficult to adapt to high-voltage platform upgrades, and are prone to insulation breakdown, electric leakage and aging failure, which affect vehicle safety and service life. High voltage PTFE insulation solutions are specially developed for electric vehicle powertrain working conditions, meeting the high safety and high durability requirements of new energy vehicle high-voltage systems PTFE SHEET.

Electric vehicle powertrain modules face three major operational challenges: high-voltage impact of ultra-high voltage platforms, high-temperature heat generation during power operation, and continuous vibration during vehicle driving. Vehicle driving process will produce continuous mechanical vibration and jolt, which puts forward high requirements on the flexibility and friction resistance of insulation components. PTFE high voltage insulation products represented by PTFE TUBE have good toughness and ultra-low friction coefficient, which can resist long-term vibration friction and avoid insulation layer wear and damage. At the same time, PTFE materials have excellent low-temperature resistance, which can maintain good insulation performance and structural toughness in low-temperature environments of minus tens of degrees, ensuring the normal operation of vehicle powertrain high-voltage systems in extreme cold weather.

In addition to electrical and mechanical performance advantages, PTFE insulation solutions meet the strict automotive industry safety standards. The material has flame retardant, smoke-free and non-toxic characteristics, which will not produce harmful gas and open flame combustion when high-voltage equipment fails, improving the active safety of electric vehicles. PTFE has excellent chemical stability, resisting corrosion of vehicle engine oil, brake fluid and various automotive chemical media, and will not deteriorate in humid and dusty vehicle operating environments. Customized PTFE insulation sheets, wiring harness insulation tubes and isolation gaskets are widely used in motor winding insulation, controller internal isolation and high-voltage wiring protection of electric vehicle powertrain modules.

At present, high voltage PTFE insulation solutions have been adopted by many new energy vehicle manufacturers for high-voltage platform upgrading and powertrain optimization. Practical vehicle road test data shows that electric vehicles equipped with PTFE insulation systems have lower high-voltage system failure rate and longer service life of powertrain components. With the continuous development of ultra-high voltage, high-power and long-life electric vehicles, PTFE high voltage insulation solutions will become the mainstream standard configuration for electric vehicle powertrain modules, escorting the safe and reliable operation of new energy vehicles.
