Durable PTFE Transformer Insulation for Extended Service Life

Power transformers are long-life core equipment of power grids, and their design service life is usually more than 20 years. However, affected by insulation aging, environmental erosion, and load fluctuation, the actual service life of most transformers using traditional insulation materials is far lower than the design standard, and frequent maintenance and replacement are required, resulting in high grid operation costs and low equipment stability. Durable PTFE transformer insulation is developed for long-life operation requirements of power equipment, relying on the ultra-strong anti-aging and anti-fatigue performance of PTFE materials to greatly extend the service life of transformer insulation systems and realize long-term stable operation of transformers PTFE SHEET.

The ultra-long service life of durable PTFE transformer insulation stems from its permanent stable molecular structure. Environmental anti-erosion durability is another key advantage of durable PTFE insulation. Outdoor and industrial transformers are eroded by humidity, salt spray, ultraviolet rays, and dust all year round, which is the main cause of natural aging of insulation systems. PTFE insulation’s super chemical stability, hydrophobicity, and anti-ultraviolet performance can completely isolate various environmental erosion factors, avoiding natural aging and damage of insulation materials. It can maintain stable insulation performance in outdoor open environments for a long time, eliminating the hidden danger of insulation failure caused by environmental aging.

Durable PTFE transformer insulation can effectively reduce equipment operation and maintenance costs. Transformers with traditional insulation need regular insulation detection, maintenance, and partial component replacement every 3–5 years, with high maintenance manpower and material costs. After adopting durable PTFE insulation, the insulation system basically realizes maintenance-free operation within 20 years, which greatly reduces the later maintenance frequency and operation cost of the equipment, and improves the continuous and stable operation capability of the power grid.
