Dielectric strength is the most critical electrical performance indicator for insulation materials in high-voltage environments, determining the ability of materials to resist high-voltage electric field impact and avoid insulation breakdown. High-voltage power equipment, high-voltage electrical components, and ultra-high voltage transmission systems require insulation materials with ultra-high and stable dielectric strength to withstand long-term strong electric field erosion and instantaneous voltage surge impact. Ordinary insulation materials are prone to dielectric breakdown and partial discharge failure in high-voltage environments, seriously threatening equipment safety. UL high-voltage electrical performance testing systematically evaluates the dielectric strength stability, partial discharge resistance, and electric field aging resistance of insulation materials under long-term high-voltage load. In high-voltage working environments, temperature changes and mechanical vibration will interfere with the dielectric performance of ordinary insulation materials, leading to decreased insulation capacity. UL approved PTFE materials have excellent temperature adaptability and structural stability, maintaining stable dielectric strength from ultra-low temperature to 260°C high temperature. High-precision PTFE TUBE and flat PTFE sheets are widely used for high-voltage component insulation, high-voltage wire isolation, and high-voltage equipment gap sealing. Their uniform and dense internal structure eliminates pores and impurities that easily cause electric field distortion, ensuring consistent and reliable dielectric performance of high-voltage insulation systems.
Another core advantage of UL approved PTFE in high-voltage environments is extremely low dielectric loss. In high-frequency and high-voltage alternating electric fields, ordinary insulation materials generate large dielectric loss heat, resulting in heat accumulation and accelerated insulation aging. PTFE has ultra-low dielectric loss tangent, which hardly generates polarization heat in high-voltage electric fields, effectively avoiding insulation aging failure caused by heat accumulation. At the same time, its excellent arc resistance can resist electric arc ablation and partial discharge erosion in high-voltage environments, further improving the long-term operational reliability of high-voltage insulation systems.
