Advanced Dielectric Properties of PTFE Insulated Cables

Dielectric performance is the core technical index that determines the insulation safety, signal transmission stability, and power supply efficiency of insulated cables. With the rapid upgrading of high-voltage power transmission, high-frequency communication, and precision electronic equipment, traditional cable insulation materials can no longer meet the high-standard dielectric requirements of modern electrical systems due to unstable dielectric constant, high dielectric loss, and low breakdown voltage. PTFE insulated cables stand out in the high-end cable industry with their advanced and stable dielectric properties, becoming the preferred insulation solution for high-precision, high-frequency, and high-voltage electrical equipment PTFE TUBE.

The most advanced dielectric advantage of PTFE insulated cables is their ultra-stable and ultra-low dielectric constant, which is maintained at about 2.1 under all temperature, humidity, and frequency conditions. Different from polyethylene, rubber, and PVC insulation materials whose dielectric constant fluctuates greatly with temperature change, frequency conversion, and environmental humidity, PTFE insulation has almost zero dielectric parameter drift. This stable dielectric characteristic ensures uniform electric field distribution inside the cable, avoids local electric field concentration and dielectric breakdown caused by parameter fluctuation, and realizes consistent and stable electrical insulation performance in complex working conditions. Whether in low-frequency power transmission or high-frequency signal transmission scenarios, PTFE cables can maintain stable electrical parameters without signal distortion and power loss surge.

PTFE insulated cables have extremely low dielectric loss tangent, which is far lower than that of all ordinary engineering plastic insulation materials. Dielectric loss directly determines the heat generation and signal attenuation degree of cables during operation. Low dielectric loss means that PTFE cables generate almost no heat during high-frequency operation, effectively avoiding insulation aging and performance attenuation caused by heat accumulation, and greatly improving the service life and operation stability of cables. In high-frequency RF signal transmission and high-speed data transmission systems, ultra-low dielectric loss can maximize reduce signal attenuation, phase shift, and transmission delay, ensuring high-precision and low-loss signal transmission, which is irreplaceable by traditional insulated cables.

In terms of dielectric strength, PTFE insulated cables have ultra-high breakdown voltage resistance, with a dielectric strength of 35–60kV/mm, which means ultra-thin PTFE insulation layers can withstand extremely high voltage impact. This high dielectric strength enables PTFE cables to achieve lightweight and miniaturized design while ensuring high-voltage insulation safety. High-purity PTFE SHEET raw materials with uniform internal structure and no impurities further eliminate dielectric defects, avoid partial discharge caused by internal pores and impurities, and improve the overall dielectric stability and breakdown resistance of cables.

Another key advanced dielectric property of PTFE insulated cables is excellent anti-interference dielectric performance. PTFE materials have good electromagnetic isolation ability, which can effectively isolate external electromagnetic wave interference and internal signal crosstalk, ensuring the independence and accuracy of cable transmission signals. In complex electromagnetic environments such as industrial automation workshops, urban dense power grids, and aerospace electromagnetic interference scenarios, PTFE cables can still maintain stable transmission performance, avoiding signal disorder and equipment misoperation caused by electromagnetic interference.

In addition, PTFE insulated cables have excellent dielectric fatigue resistance, and their dielectric parameters will not attenuate after long-term alternating voltage impact and high-frequency cycle operation. They can maintain stable insulation performance in long-term high-load operation, solving the problem of gradual dielectric failure of traditional cables with the increase of service time. With the continuous development of high-end electrical and electronic equipment, advanced dielectric PTFE insulated cables will continue to replace traditional insulation cables and become the mainstream choice for high-voltage power transmission, high-frequency communication, and precision electronic wiring systems.
