Acoustic sensitivity is one of the most critical performance indicators of microphone devices, determining the ability of microphones to capture weak sound signals and restore low-volume acoustic details. In low-noise detection, long-distance sound pickup, subtle voice recognition and high-precision acoustic monitoring scenarios, traditional microphone diaphragms are limited by single planar structure and fixed mechanical parameters, resulting in insufficient sensitivity to ultra-weak sound waves, easy loss of low-amplitude acoustic signals, and poor low-frequency response performance. Microstructuring optimization technology for PTFE microphone diaphragms provides an innovative solution to enhance acoustic sensitivity, realizing efficient capture of weak acoustic signals and comprehensive improvement of microphone pickup performance through precise surface micro-nano structure design and structural parameter optimization PTFE SHEET.
PTFE microphone diaphragm microstructuring refers to the processing of regular micro-nano concave-convex structures, grid arrays and porous microstructures on the surface of high-purity PTFE ultrathin diaphragms through precision laser etching, mechanical micro-embossing and chemical micro-modification processes. Different from traditional flat and smooth diaphragm structures, the optimized microstructured surface can effectively increase the sound wave contact area and acoustic pressure receiving area of the diaphragm without increasing the overall thickness and structural weight. When weak sound waves propagate to the diaphragm surface, the microstructures can capture and gather scattered acoustic energy, convert more sound pressure energy into mechanical vibration energy, and significantly improve the vibration response amplitude of the diaphragm under low sound pressure level, thereby greatly enhancing the acoustic sensitivity of the microphone.
In addition to increasing the acoustic receiving area, PTFE microstructuring can effectively optimize the mechanical vibration characteristics of the diaphragm and reduce the threshold of acoustic vibration response. The reasonable micro-grid structure design can adjust the local rigidity and flexibility distribution of the diaphragm, make the overall vibration of the diaphragm more uniform and sensitive, and reduce the minimum sound pressure threshold that can trigger effective vibration. Traditional flat diaphragms have high structural rigidity uniformity, which makes it difficult to respond to ultra-weak sound pressure fluctuations, resulting in the loss of subtle acoustic details. Microstructured PTFE diaphragms form a flexible vibration area and force conduction network on the surface, which can sense tiny sound pressure changes in real time and realize high-sensitivity pickup of low-amplitude acoustic signals.
The excellent material stability of PTFE ensures the long-term effectiveness of microstructured optimization. Many polymer diaphragm materials will have microstructure deformation and structural fatigue after long-term vibration, resulting in decreased sensitivity and unstable performance. However, PTFE materials have ultra-high structural stability and mechanical fatigue resistance. The micro-nano structures processed on the surface of PTFE TUBE and film diaphragms will not deform, fall off or fail under long-term acoustic vibration, maintaining stable high-sensitivity pickup performance for a long time. At the same time, the hydrophobic and anti-fouling characteristics of PTFE can prevent dust, moisture and fine particles from adhering to the microstructures, avoiding the problem of sensitivity attenuation caused by microstructure blockage and contamination.
Professional acoustic performance tests verify that microstructured PTFE microphone diaphragms can increase the acoustic sensitivity of microphones by more than 25% compared with traditional flat diaphragms, significantly improve the signal-to-noise ratio of weak sound pickup, and effectively optimize the low-frequency response and transient response speed of microphones. This microstructuring optimization technology is widely applicable to MEMS microphones, condenser microphones, acoustic sensor microphones and intelligent voice terminal microphones. It solves the technical bottleneck of insufficient sensitivity of traditional microphones in weak sound detection, provides a new technical path for the development of high-sensitivity acoustic pickup equipment, and promotes the performance upgrading of modern microphone devices.
